Services
We understand that your children’s healthcare needs are as unique as their personalities.
We understand that your children’s healthcare needs are as unique as their personalities.
Pediatricians receive special training in the health and illnesses of infants, children, teens, and young adults. We provide preventive health care for children in good health, medical care for children with chronic conditions such as ADHD or asthma, newborn care, developmental screenings, and much more. We also provide parents with support and advice with issues such as growth and development, safety and prevention, nutrition, and emotional wellness to foster a lifetime of good health. We are also experienced in transgender, gender diverse and LGBTQ+ support and wellness.
Well-child visits are a vital part of your child’s health care. During a check-up, we evaluate growth, development, vision, speech, hearing, and much more. These visits also provide an opportunity to discuss child safety, nutrition, accident prevention, and anticipated changes in behavior and development.
We follow the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics for Well-child visits.
Because we understand children can become ill quickly and unexpectedly, we offer same-day sick appointments. Don’t hesitate to call our office to speak with a triage nurse whenever you feel uncomfortable or worried about your child’s medical condition. In addition, the Symptom Checker at HealthyChildren.org can help you determine whether your child should see a doctor.
Some chronic health conditions (such as asthma or allergies) and mental health conditions (such as ADHD, depression, and anxiety) require regular follow-ups and medication checks with your chosen pediatrician at least every 6-12 months, or more frequently based on a child’s individual situation.
Anxiety disorders may develop as early as 5 years of age. Fifteen percent of adolescents suffer from depression. We make a special effort to screen for these disorders. We provide comprehensive care for these patients including coordination of care, education, support, and medication if needed. Early identification and treatment will provide a better outcome for these individuals.
We know that adolescence is challenging to navigate for teens as well as their parents, and we are here to help. During these years, patients will be encouraged to have a portion of the visit alone with their provider. This creates an opportunity for your child to advocate for their own health. We try to pay special attention to the personal needs, confidentiality and privacy of our adolescent patients. During these visits, we will discuss issues such as alcohol, smoking, substance abuse, and sexual development, and contraception. Patients may schedule appointments through their late teens and college years.
If you are expecting a child, we encourage you to schedule an appointment to meet one of our providers before your child is born. This visit gives you a chance to meet a physician in our office and to ask any questions you might have. There is no charge for this appointment.
When you receive the pre-admission form from the hospital, you will be asked to list your pediatrician. When your baby is born call the office immediately to schedule a visit 24 to 48 hours after discharge from the hospital.
We know that breastfeeding can sometimes be challenging. If you are having any problems nursing your baby, please call our office for assistance.
We will administer life-saving immunizations according to the recommended schedule. Information about childhood vaccines may be found at CDC.gov or Healthychildren.org. Our providers will be glad to answer any questions you have.
We monitor growth and nutritional status at each visit. We inform patients and parents about healthy food choices and exercise at every visit. For patients who are concerned about their weight we provide additional services including motivational interviewing to assist in lifestyle changes that will lead to permanent healthy eating and exercise.
For parents and older teens who wish to discuss contraception, we are glad to provide these services as well.
We provide school sports physicals, CPR training and other education classes, and even ear piercing!
